One of the most important indicators of the activity of any university is the scientific component. Development of new technologies in any industry is impossible without high-quality scientific research. A key indicator of the effectiveness of research work is the publication of the results obtained in prestigious high-ranking scientific journals. At present, the fact of indexing it in one of two international databases (Scopus and Web of Science) with the subsequent assignment of the corresponding scientometric indicators to the journal is accepted as the standard of quality for a scientific journal (for Web of Science – determining a quartile for the corresponding field of science and calculating the impact -factor “; for Scopus – determining the percentile for the relevant field of science and calculating the CiteScore indicator, which is an analogue of the impact factor). Therefore, special attention is paid to publications in such journals – for example, in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the presence of a certain number of articles in indexed journals is a prerequisite for obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree, as well as awarding academic titles.
Thus, at the Department of Metal Forming by Pressure, 3rd year doctoral student Abishkenov Maksat, based on the results of his doctoral dissertation, wrote and published a scientific work in the prestigious high-ranking scientific journal Engineering Solid Mechanics (Canada). This work was carried out under the guidance of his scientific adviser, Ph.D., associate professor Ashkeev Zh. A. in collaboration with scientific consultants – Doctor of Technical Sciences, prof. Mashekov S.A. and doctor of technical sciences .. prof. Anna Kavalek from the Czestochowa Polytechnic University (Poland).
This journal is indexed in the international database Scopus and has very high scientometric indicators – CiteScore = 3.2; 78th percentile and Q2 quartile in four and five scientific areas (according to the Scimago aggregator, which is supported by the Scopus database).
We wish the scientists of our university further creative success!
Today, March 15, 2021, the results of the subject Olympiad among schoolchildren of our city were summed up at the Karaganda Industrial University. Recall that on March 4, 2021, the teachers of the Department of Natural and Scientific Disciplines held an Olympiad for schoolchildren of the 11th grade of schools in the city of Temirtau. The goal of the Olympiad was to identify students who demonstrate deep knowledge and skills, the ability to solve non-standard problems that require an individual approach and a logical vision of the subject.
Galina Aleksandrovna Sivyakova, Vice-Rector for Strategic Planning, addressed the participants of the Olympiad with a parting speech. In her speech, she congratulated the winners of the Olympiad, wished them even bigger and brighter victories, all the participants success in their studies, and also introduced them to the new rules for passing the UNT.
The results of the subject Olympiad are as follows: in mathematics – there are no first places, two second places were shared by Humarkhan Anar (school №29) and Yun Timur (Classical lyceum in Temirtau), the third place was taken by Turdybaev Azamat (school №29). Physics – there are no first places, the second place is Victoria Kozlova (Classical Lyceum of Temirtau) and the third place was taken by Azamat Turdybaev (school №29). According to the results of the Olympiad, the winners and prize-winners will be given a discount for the first year of study at KarIU: 30% for the first place, 20% for the second, and 10% for the third. All tasks of the Olympiad included questions on the school curriculum, and were also aimed at successfully passing the UNT.
In order to develop the debate student movement and the intellectual potential of student youth, on March 15, 2021, a demonstration debate tournament was held at the Karaganda Industrial University, organized by the strongest KIU debaters for first and second year students.
The topic of the trial game was a resolution on the life of student youth in quarantine conditions, as well as the transfer of experience, a demonstration of eloquence and an exciting game of strong opponents.
During the debate, the head of the debate club «Abadan» Alikhan Bederov told about the structure of the club, about the directions in the debate games, what types of debates are available, and fully acquainted with the preparatory stage of the debate. During the demonstration game, the teams demonstrated excellent oratory skills, thereby attracting the interest of our students.
The game caused a positive response from all participants, a large number of students appeared who wanted to take part in the debate movement and learn how to play debates.
Students will be able to implement the acquired knowledge and skills already this year. This game has become a kind of preparatory stage for them for future debate tournaments.
Debate is a very interesting and educational game. Debate, as a system of structural discussions, has its origins in ancient Greece, where it was an important element of democracy.
The positive aspects of the technology of debate include: the formation of an attitude for a deep and comprehensive consideration of the issue in preparation for the debate, the development of the ability to analyze and compare various ideas and facts, draw informed conclusions, build a chain of evidence, the development of the ability to concentrate on the essence of the problem, the ability to master the skills of a culture of discussion : the ability to hear the arguments of opponents, to correctly use the language of non-verbal communication (facial expressions, gestures, intonation), the development of the ability to clearly organize and express one’s thoughts in oral and written form, fostering tolerance for various points of view, including those different from one’s own.
We also note that the debaters of our university are among the strongest in the Karaganda region. They can make a real show of speakers out of debates, every year they prove their oratory skills at the regional and republican levels!
The next «Hour of Integrity» of the Anti-Corruption Agency is dedicated to instructive life and commandments, wisdom and the personal qualities of the great Tole bi, a thinker who made a great contribution to the oratory of the Kazakh people, who strengthened the unity of the country.

In the NPLC “Karaganda Industrial University” on the basis of an experimental site (building “B”), a laboratory ore-reduction furnace with a capacity of up to 150 kVA was introduced. The furnace was constructed on the basis of an existing experimental ore-thermal furnace with a capacity of 250 kVA. In operation, only a power transformer of the OSZ-250 / 0.5 UHL4 type was borrowed from the Moscow Transformer Plant. The transformer itself has seven steps on the secondary side from 27.4V to 71.2V. The new laboratory Ore Terminology Service will use the next voltage stage on the other side from 27.5V to 43.1V. This corresponds to a furnace power of up to 150 kVA. The rest of the auxiliary equipment and the column of the electric holder with an electrode reverse mechanism, busbars, a closed water cooling system, etc. were manufactured at the very experimental site. The main characteristics of the furnace bath are: diameter 300 mm and depth 300 mm, and the use of a graphite electrode has a diameter of 100 mm.
The commissioning of the laboratory ore-reduction furnace was carried out under the guidance of technical sciences, professor A.Kh. Nurumgaliev, senior foreman Zh.Z. Akhylbekov and third-year doctoral students on EP 6D070900 – “Metallurgy” T.T. Zhunisgaliev, E. Mukhametkhan and E.Қ. Кuatbay.
The main advantage of a laboratory ore-reduction furnace is lower energy and material consumption than a semi-industrial furnace with a capacity of 250 kVA, while solving the same technological problems.
According of professor A.Kh. Nurumgaliev, who is in charge of the overall work on the operation of the furnace, the university “takes one more step so that the work of doctoral students and undergraduates along with fundamental problems and applied problems in the technology of production of new alloys and ligatures. It will also help the implementation of research theses of students and assist in the training of highly qualified personnel. ”
When starting the ore-thermal furnace in order to check the equipment under load, a complex Fe-Si-Al-Mn ligature was smelted from high-ash coals and manganese ore.
