Prevention of human trafficking

On November 4, 2021, the Department of Educational Work in CarIU, together with representatives of the public foundation “Kaisar”, organized and held a round table for students of our university on the topic:
The purpose of the event is the formation of citizenship, patriotism and national identity of young people based on the state ideology of Independence of Kazakhstan, as well as improving social security in the field of human trafficking, forced labor and involvement in pseudo-religious cults.
The participants of the round table took an active part in the event, asked their questions related to human trafficking and human rights. Also during the round table, the organizers distributed booklets and cards with hotline numbers to students.

10 FACTS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT HUMAN TRAFFICKING
1. Human trafficking is the exploitation of people for the purpose of obtaining benefits.

2. As a rule, victims fall into labor, sexual or domestic slavery.

3. Human trafficking is the most actively developing criminal activity that brings considerable income.

4. Especially vulnerable are those persons who, due to poverty or lack of work, intend to leave their home in search of a better life.

5. There are more than 20 million people in modern slavery.

6. In most cases, people become victims of human trafficking due to fraud or coercion.

7. Criminals are usually people whom victims know well and trust them.

8. When people become objects of exploitation, they are forced to work many hours in a row, either without receiving remuneration for their work at all, or receiving scanty pay. In addition, victims can often be subjected to physical or psychological violence: threats, rape, murder.

Possible ways of cooperation with the Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Karaganda Region

Vice-Rector for Scientific Work and International Relations of NAO «Karaganda Industrial University» Saparkhodzhaev N.P. and Head of the Department «Metallurgy and Materials Science» Yerzhanov A.S. took part in the 12th meeting of the Regional Council of the Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Karaganda region. The meeting was held in an online format through the ZOOM platform. The Vice-Rector familiarized with the presentation material about the University and told about the scientific directions in which enterprises and organizations of the Karaganda region can take an active part. During the discussion of the scientific activities of the university, members of the Chamber of Entrepreneurs asked interesting questions about possible joint work in the areas of Construction, Chemical Engineering and Materials Science. After the presentation, it was decided to create a Working Group with the participation of interested companies and enterprises of the Karaganda region and organize a meeting on the basis of the Karaganda Industrial University for further work.

A reporting meeting of the Rector of Karaganda Industrial University B. Abdrasilov was held in front of the public

On November 3 of this year, the reporting meeting of the Chairman of the Board – Rector of Karaganda Industrial University B. Abdrasilov in front of the public was held online via the ZOOM platform.

The event was attended by heads and representatives of state bodies, deputies of the city maslikhat, public organizations, teachers, students, parents. In addition, the reporting meeting was broadcast live on the university’s YouTube channel, Instagram, and on the official pages of social networks.

In his speech, B. Abdrasilov spoke about the development of the university, its qualitative changes and achievements during the reporting period. The Rector noted that today Karaganda Industrial University is a recognized training center for the mining and metallurgical industry of the country, having established ties with multinational corporations, enterprises and organizations of the city and the region. He reported in detail on the current situation, strategic objectives and development directions for all types of university activities. According to academic work, there was an increase in the contingent and admission of applicants this year, high employment rates of graduates, the development of modern training platforms and digital content, the introduction of LMS MOODLE. The achievements of the publication activity of the university scientists (5th place in the Republic of Kazakhstan), the execution of works commissioned by industrial enterprises, the university’s contribution to the creation of a regional innovation ecosystem were shown in scientific work. The international cooperation of CarIU with leading universities was noted, as well as fruitful work on attracting foreign students. The new personnel policy of the university and the results of financial and economic activities are covered in detail.

The Rector noted a twofold or more increase in the salaries of teachers and staff, reported on the repair work carried out in 2021 in the buildings and dormitories of the university (repair of the roof, restoration of heating, lighting and power supply systems), about the purchased household appliances (kitchen stoves, refrigerators, washing machines, irons, ironing boards, televisions) to create comfortable conditions in student dormitories. He also spoke in detail about the measures taken to ensure safe learning and living conditions on the university campus.

The socio-youth policy of the university was highlighted through the implementation of educational work within the framework of the main directions of the program «Rukhani Zhangyru», the development of the debate movement and volunteer activities.

During the reporting meeting, the secretary of the city maslikhat A.Lomakin thanked the rector for the fruitful work of the university management.

Following the meeting, the Rector of CarIU answered questions received from social networks and from students. Most of the questions posed to the rector concerned the dormitory, the educational process and research work.

«We will consider the questions and proposals put by the participants as soon as possible», – said the Rector of KarIU B. Abdrasilov.

Working trip to the company «Borusan Makina Kazakhstan»

The departments of Karaganda Industrial University are systematically working to expand the bases of professional practice at enterprises equipped with modern equipment, using the latest technology and production technology. As part of this work, teachers of the Department of Technological Machines and Transport visited the Karaganda branch of the «Borusan Makina Kazakhstan» company, which is the official dealer of Caterpillar Inc (one of the world’s largest manufacturers of construction and mining equipment) in Kazakhstan. During the visit, university teachers met with specialists of the company’s service training department, got acquainted with the material and technical base and production process of the enterprise. Based on the results of the work carried out, a contract was signed for the professional practice of students. The passage of professional practice on the modern material and technical base of the company «Borusan Makina Kazakhstan» will allow students to consolidate theoretical knowledge on promising technologies and equipment, participate in real production processes using certified and dealer programs for repair and restoration of components and aggregates of construction and mining equipment.

A guest lecture of the fintech company Wooppay for students of the Department of «Artificial Intelligence Technologies» was held at KarIU

 

On October 28, 2021, a guest lecture by representatives of the Kazakh fintech company Wooppay was held on the basis of the Karaganda Industrial University. The lecture was attended by students and teachers of the Department of Artificial Intelligence Technologies, as well as guests of the university – students of Temirtau Higher Polytechnic College, studying in the specialty «Computer Engineering and Software».

Wooppay company specializes in the development and implementation of payment and technological solutions for businesses and government agencies in Kazakhstan. In addition to its main activities, the organization implements projects related to electronic money in the Russian Federation and Kyrgyzstan.

The project manager of Wooppay Abykaev Bertishan, who spoke about the company’s activities, and recruiter Marina Ragozina, who answered students’ questions regarding possible employment in the company after graduation, addressed the students of KarIU.

During the lecture, students learned about the organizational structure of the company, the directions of its activities on the territory of Kazakhstan and other CIS countries, the main achievements during the work.

The guest lecture aroused keen interest among students and teachers, who asked a lot of questions concerning the functioning of products created by Wooppay employees and the requirements imposed by the company on programmers and IT project management managers hired. The students who showed themselves most actively during the lecture received memorable souvenirs from Wooppay representatives.
