Postgraduate education

Karaganda state industrial University provides training in 7 master’s degree programs and 2 doctoral programs.

The process of admission to the University is regulated by the “Standard rules for admission to training in educational organizations that implement educational programs of postgraduate education”. 

KGIU provides educational services under the state educational order and on a paid basis.

1. Master’s degree – the level of postgraduate education aimed at training personnel with the award of a master’s degree in the corresponding educational program.
Master’s degree is a degree awarded to individuals who have completed master’s degree programs.

Training in the master’s program is carried out in two directions:
profile with a training period of at least 1 year (1-1. 5 years);
scientific and pedagogical with a training period of 2 years.

The specialized master’s degree program implements professional training programs of postgraduate education for training personnel for the sectors of economy, medicine, law, art, services and business that have in-depth professional training. Educational programs of the specialized master’s degree are applied in nature, aimed at instilling managerial skills and providing training for professional managers (General managers in all aspects of management activities).
The scientific and pedagogical magistracy implements professional training programs of postgraduate education for training scientific and pedagogical personnel for the system of higher, postgraduate education and the scientific sphere that have in-depth scientific and pedagogical training.

Previous level of education: a master’s student must have all the prerequisites necessary to master the corresponding professional master’s degree program. In the absence of the necessary prerequisites, the undergraduate student is allowed to master them on a paid basis. After the master’s student has fully mastered the prerequisites, the master’s degree program begins.
Training in the master’s program is carried out only in full-time form.

As part of the implementation of research/experimental research work of a master’s student, it is mandatory to pass a foreign scientific internship.

A graduate of the master’s degree program must have fundamental scientific and professional training, possess modern information technologies, be competent in the field of research methodology, be able to formulate and solve modern scientific and practical problems, teach at universities, and successfully carry out research and management activities.

2. Doctorate – postgraduate education, whose educational programs are aimed at training personnel for scientific, pedagogical and (or) professional activities, with the award of the degree of doctor of philosophy (PhD) (doctor in profile).Doctor in profile – the degree awarded to persons who have completed the doctoral program in the relevant field of professional activity and defended their dissertation in the Republic of Kazakhstan or abroad, recognized in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The period of study in the doctoral program is 3 years.
