The University of Oregon’s American English Institute offers graduate-level online E-Teacher courses for non-U.S. citizen English as a Foreign Language (EFL) professionals.
Scholarships cover tuition and access to course materials.
These courses will be offered in the Summer:
- Introduction to Pedagogy and Practices for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL Methods);
- Building Teaching Skills through the Interactive Web (Web Skills);
- Teaching English to Young Learners (TEYL);
- Critical Thinking in Language Learning and Teaching (CT);
- Assessment: Summative and Formative Practices in Language Learning and Teaching (Assessment).
PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates should be highly motivated in-service EFL educators, teacher trainers, or ministry officials who are dedicated to their own professional development and willing to share their knowledge with colleagues. In addition, they should:
- Be able to dedicate time to complete the course (8-10+ hours/week);
- Possess high-intermediate to advanced English language skills (approximately 525 TOEFL / 70 TOEFL iBT);
- Have access (4-5 times per week minimum) to a reliable, up-to-date computer with high-speed Internet access;
- Have basic technology skills related to email, Internet searches and downloads/uploads, logins/passwords, and file use (e.g., PDF, MS Word, Excel).

The Master in Business and Quantitative Methods is offered jointly by the Departments of Business Administration and Statistics. It is conceived as the main way of entry into the PhD program in Business and Quantitative Methods. Outstanding faculty, flexibility in learning, research with deep impact, and the finest resources in academia qualities enable our departments to offer an outstanding program.
The language of instruction is English. The program is full-time and starts in September. A minimum of two years in residence is required for complete the Master phase, and it is expected that students will complete the full graduate program (Master plus Doctorate) in four to five years.
The main aim of the program is to prepare students to conduct original research in finance, management, and statistics. Coursework for the entering class is organized along three different but overlapping tracks
- Finance
- Management
- Statistics
See the program section for details. It is designed to prepare students for their doctoral dissertation within the Doctoral program in Business Administration and Quantitative Methods.
The mission of the graduate program (Master plus Doctorate) is to develop leading scholars
in finance, management, marketing, accounting, operations research, actuarial science, statistics and econometrics for careers in research and teaching at leading universities and business schools. A broad knowledge of business ensures that students fully appreciate the interdependencies and complexity of management problems. At the same time, a strong training in quantitative methods introduces them to the possibility of interdisciplinary and qualified empirical research.
Students profile:
The student’s profile of this master’s degree is one with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics or Business Administration (with a quantitative basis) or Statistics, Mathematics or Engineering, who wishes to acquire quantitative training in the different areas in finance and management. The candidate should possess intellectual curiosity, advanced communication skills in English and a robust quantitative background.

Establishment of the National Scholarship Programme for the Support of Mobility of Students, PhD Students, University Teachers, Researchers and Artists was approved by the Government of the Slovak Republic in 2005. The National Scholarship Programme of the Slovak Republic is funded by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic.
The National Scholarship Programme of the Slovak Republic supports mobility of foreign students, PhD students, university teachers, researchers and artists to stay at Slovak universities and research organisations.
Eligible applicants:
The following individuals can apply for a scholarship in the framework of the National Scholarship Programme:
- university students whose second level of higher education is taking place at a foreign university and who are invited by a public, private or state university in the Slovak Republic to an academic mobility for a purpose of study in the Slovak Republic. Scholarship period 1 to 2 semesters;
- PhD students whose higher education or research preparation is taking place at a foreign university or research organisation and who are invited by a public, private or state university or research organisation eligible to carry out PhD study programmes in the Slovak Republic to an academic mobility for a purpose of study or research in the Slovak Republic. Scholarship period 1 to 12 months;
- university teachers from foreign universities who are invited by a public, private or state university in the Slovak Republic to a lecture / research / artistic stay in the Slovak Republic. Scholarship period 1 to 12 months;
- researchers or artists who are invited by a public, private or state university, research organisation eligible to carry out PhD study programmes or non-governmental organisation in the Slovak Republic to a lecture / research / artistic stay in the Slovak Republic. Scholarship period 1 to 12 months.
Citizens of the following countries can apply for a scholarship:
- the Member States of the European Union;
- other countries participating in the Bologna Process (listed are only non-EU Member States ) – Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Georgia, Iceland, Kazakhstan, Liechtenstein, Republic of Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Norway, Russian Federation, Serbia (including Kosovo), Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine;
- Belarus;
- Canada, Mexico, USA, countries of Latin and Central America;
- Australia, China (including Taiwan), Egypt, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Republic of South Africa, Thailand, Vietnam.
The National Scholarship Programme does not support:
- foreign university students and PhD students intending to enrol or accepted for entire Master or PhD studies in Slovakia, or those who are already studying in Slovakia and would like to cover a part of their costs by the National Scholarship Programme;
- foreign university teachers and researches who are already teaching or doing research at Slovak universities and research organisations;
- citizens of the Slovak Republic studying, teaching or doing research at foreign universities or research organisations;
- foreign applicants accepted for other scholarship programmes in Slovakia (for example Visegrad Fund, Erasmus, CEEPUS, bilateral agreements, etc.).
Individuals with permanent residence in the Slovak Republic can not apply for a scholarship in the framework of the National Scholarship Programme for the support of mobility for applicants from abroad.
Scholarship and scholarship stay
The scholarship shall cover scholarship holders living costs (accommodation, boarding, etc.) during his/her study, research, lecture or artistic stay at Slovak universities, research or non-governmental organisations. Scholarship holders can ask their host institution in Slovakia to assist them to arrange their accommodation and necessary documents regarding their scholarship stay in Slovakia, or they have to arrange them by themselves. The National Scholarship Programme does not cover any travel costs to and from Slovakia.
