Republican Hackathon

KarIU students took part in the Republican Hackathon «Nur-Sultan – the center of digital Transformation of Kazakhstan», dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the 25th anniversary of L.N. Gumilyov ENU.

Hackathon is a unique educational, project and communication Forum for doctoral students, undergraduates and university students, the purpose of which is to identify and professionally develop a progressive team to solve urgent problems in the development of new digital urban management services.

The main purpose and objective of the Hackathon:

  1. Development of creative thinking and experience of interdisciplinary teamwork on project solutions to real business problems;
  2. Formation of a data bank of design solutions for business tasks;
  3. Training and development of our own young specialists, teachers and students;
  4. The possibility of live communication of young people with managers and experts of leading companies;

Competitions were held among individual participants in the following main sections:

* Network security – using the desktop network simulator “IT-alem”

* Esports – team or individual competition based on video games

* Togyzkumalak –  is a national game held on a special online platform.

From our university, 2 teams consisting of students took part in the hackathon.

The participants of the first team were:

1) Leonid Karandashev;

2) Valery Stankevich;

3) Katkov Adlan .

The topic of their project: «Development of a facial mask recognition system to ensure control over compliance with sanitary and epidemiological requirements in the premises». And in the second team took part:

1) Halmuradov Kairat;

2) Alpysbaeva Anelia;

3) Sarsen Sultan.

The topic of the project of the second team was: «Development of a remote monitoring system for filling garbage cans to optimize the garbage collection process».

 

The head of the teams from the university was the head of the Department of «Artificial Intelligence Technologies» Vyacheslav Aleksandrovich Kunaev.

The organizers and sponsors of the Hackathon were:

* L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University and other regional universities;

* Akimat of the city of Nursultan

* Astana Innovations JSC
