Today, senior operative officer of the CPD PD of Temirtau – Sakharieva Aisha Taimanova, conducted explanatory work for students of our university. Aisha Taimanova spoke about crime related to fraud, as well as preventive measures taken by law enforcement officers in the fight against fraud. In her report, Aisha Taimanova identified a category of citizens who are easily susceptible to the tricks of scammers. It has been established that elderly people are more trusting and vulnerable when dealing with scammers. She also provided statistical data and facts of fraud committed by deceiving bank card holders. In recent years, the contactless method of fraud has become increasingly popular with criminals.
Types of Internet scams:
- The most common method of Internet fraud is associated with the placement of ads for the sale of goods or the provision of services on online platforms (OLX Wheels, Instagram, ticket sales)
- An example of fraud under the guise of a bank employee. The fraudster, posing as bank employees, extort passwords, PIN codes, bank card numbers and CVV codes, SMS codes and identity cards from the victims.
Remember: Bank employees are never the first to call a client with a request to provide confidential information.
- Credit fraud, when online loans are issued to victims, which they learn about after a while.
- Fraud under the guise of providing brokerage services, when citizens are offered to open and replenish investment accounts, promising high dividends. Pay attention to whether the brokerage company has an official website where the license for this type of activity is indicated, which can be checked on the website of the National Bank.
In order not to become a victim of a criminal, you need to follow the following simple rules:
- Never transfer money as an advance of the full or partial cost of the goods until you receive the goods in your hands;
- never follow links from emails and SMS sent to you by strangers;
- never tell anyone your bank card number and do not tell the code numbers that came to your phone in the form of an SMS message, and also do not send photos of your identity card;
- do not enter bank card details on questionable websites, as well as from public computers;
