The city debating tournament on the theme “Youth against corruption” was held on November 21 in Karaganda industrial university.

The tournament was held within the framework of the project “Forming citizens’ outlook on preventing and combating corruption” on the state social order of the Temirtau Domestic Policy Department and was timed to the Anti-Corruption Day, which will be celebrated in Kazakhstan in the first decade of December. Its main goal was to increase awareness and involve students’ youth in the public discussion on anti-corruption issues.

The event was attended by the strongest debaters – winners of regional and national debates tournaments.

The following resolutions were made for the tournament:

a. This Chamber believes that close relatives of officials who are incriminated in corruption who work in the civil service must file for leave regardless of their position.

b. This Chamber believes that the state should get the right to apply sanctions against relatives of runaway corrupt officials who hide from justice abroad.

c. This Chamber believes that the fight against corruption is justified.

The debate tournament was held in the American Parliament format. The criminals were determined by such criteria as persuasiveness, argumentation of the ideas put forward, evidence, support, structure and way of speech. Equity, clarity, honesty, respect were always taken into account.

1 place – the Government team: Omirzhol Rakymzhan and Rauan Makym

2nd place – opposition team: Konysbek Tazhikov and Madina Esbolova
