General information about academic mobility
Academic mobility is one of the most important areas of the international activity of the university and contributes to improving the quality of education, increasing the efficiency of research work of students, undergraduates, PhD students, teachers and staff, increasing their professional, cultural and educational level, improving the management system, establishing external and internal integration ties, fulfillment of the KIU mission.
Academic mobility is the movement of students, undergraduates, PhD students and / or KIU research teachers for a certain academic period (for a semester or academic year) to another higher Kazakhstani or foreign educational institution for training (or research).
For the implementation and implementation of academic mobility programs, students, undergraduates, PhD doctoral students can study certain disciplines in other educational organizations, including abroad. In this case, a bilateral agreement on mutual cooperation in the provision of educational services within the framework of academic mobility programs must be concluded between educational organizations.
The direction of students to study abroad within the framework of academic mobility is carried out through:
1) funds of the republican budget;
2) grants from employers, social, academic and scientific partners, international and domestic foundations and scholarships;
3) personal funds of the student;
4) at the expense of the educational institution.
The way to implement academic mobility of students, undergraduates, PhD students and / or KIU research teachers for a certain academic period (for a semester or academic year) is to send students to partner universities for:
– included training within the framework of interuniversity cooperation (without issuing a second diploma), including within the framework of academic mobility programs;
– passing an internship (including language);
– passing educational or industrial practice;
– participation in summer schools (semesters).
The introduction of academic mobility contributes to bringing domestic educational programs and curricula in line with European standards; recognition of domestic qualifications and academic degrees; transfer of loans of students of Kazakhstani universities in foreign universities and vice versa; implementation of joint educational programs; creation of conditions for ensuring the convertibility of Kazakhstani diplomas of higher education in the European region and the right of graduates to work in any other country.
External (international) academic mobility includes:
Training of students, undergraduates, doctoral students of KarIU in foreign universities, as a rule, without increasing the standard period of study in this area of training (specialty) with the subsequent recognition of the period of study.
The work of research teachers in foreign educational or scientific institutions.
Internal (national) academic mobility includes:
Teaching students in the leading universities of Kazakhstan, as a rule, without increasing the standard term of study in this area of training (specialty) with the subsequent recognition of the period of study.
The work of research teachers in leading Kazakhstani universities.
Individual academic mobility – moving a student for a certain period to another educational institution (in Kazakhstan or abroad) for training.
Academic mobility of students, carried out within the framework of agreements concluded with partner universities, is implemented on the basis of an order from the head of the university to send them to study for a certain period both in Kazakhstan and abroad.
The direction to study abroad within the framework of academic mobility at the expense of the republican budget is carried out by the authorized body in the field of education (MES RK, TsBPiAM).
NJSC “KarIU” collects documents of applicants for participation in the competition for study abroad at the expense of the republican budget.
Upon completion of training under the academic mobility program, the student is issued a transcript containing information about the training program, a list of the mastered disciplines and / or internship, the student’s research work, indicating credits and grades in alphabetic and numerical terms (in the national scale and in the ESTC scale ), which reflects the history of his educational achievements.
On the basis of the transcript, the student is obliged to transfer credits according to the conversion factors of the Kazakh credit transfer system of the ESTC type.
The documents required for participation in external academic mobility are determined in accordance with the requirements of the program and the host country.
As part of external academic mobility, students of the Karaganda Industrial University annually study at universities in the Czech Republic (University of Ostrava) and Poland (Lublin Polytechnic University) .
