International activity

Karaganda Industrial University (hereinafter KIU) is actively working to expand international relations and strengthen international cooperation. International activity is one of the priority directions of the university development.

During the reporting period, KarIU carried out a number of works to implement international cooperation.

To date, the university has signed 94 memorandums with foreign universities and research centers from 19 CIS countries, Europe and the United States. Figure 1 shows a graph showing the dynamics of the concluded and valid agreements between KarIU and foreign partner universities and organizations.

In recent years, there has been a dynamics of growth of agreements concluded between KarIU and foreign partner universities and organizations. This, in turn, expands the scope of the implementation of the scientific potential of scientists and teaching staff of the university.

In April 2019, KarIU became part of the construction cluster of the Karaganda region. In addition to Kazakhstan, the consortium includes Spain. The cluster, combining the joint efforts of universities, research institutes, industrial enterprises and business entities, will increase the innovative and industrial potential of the Karaganda region, as well as expand the scope of mutually beneficial cooperation with foreign partners. On June 5, 2019, within the walls of KarIU, a meeting was held with representatives of the construction cluster of the Basque Country (Spain). This construction cluster, combining the joint efforts of universities, research institutes, industrial enterprises and business entities, will increase the innovative and industrial potential of the Karaganda region, as well as expand the scope of mutually beneficial cooperation with foreign partners.

On June 20, 2019, KarIU became a member of the Scientific and Educational Consortium of Higher Educational Institutions and Research Institutes of Belarus and Kazakhstan. Within the framework of this consortium, Karaganda Industrial University signed an agreement with the universities of the Republic of Belarus on international cooperation, academic mobility, research activities and educational work, in particular, the development of international KVN.

On October 4, 2019, the international forum "STEM - technologies in training industry 4.0 specialists" was held at the Karaganda Higher Polytechnic College. The purpose of the forum is to develop an algorithm to maximize the availability and quality of vocational education, update its content, taking into account the needs of society, individuals and industrial and innovative development of the economy. This event was attended by: representatives of NJSC "Holding" Kasipkor ", heads of regional departments, rectors of universities, representatives of regional colleges, social partners. Representatives of the Republic of Belarus, Germany, Lithuania, Estonia, Sweden were invited as expert speakers. The moderator of the forum was the rector of KarIU B.A. Zhautikov.

In 2019, a delegation from AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow (Poland) visited KarIU twice. At the moment, there is close cooperation with this university in the field of production systems, mechanical engineering and robotics.

On November 7, 2019, a round table meeting was held at KarIU with the participation of representatives of Arizona State University and Cintana Education (USA). Following the meeting, it is planned to create a single platform for training competitive personnel with higher and postgraduate education with US universities within the framework of double-diploma education.

On November 15, 2019, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan Niyazkhodzhaev Saidikram arrived at the university on a working visit. The meeting was for informational purposes only. During the event, Mr. Niyazkhodzhaev noted the importance of the trust shown by the university leadership to the Uzbek side, and held an informational and explanatory conversation on issues related to consular registration and the stay of foreign students in Kazakhstan.

In the period from November 15 to 20, 2019, KarIU was visited by honorary guests from Italy, professor at Link Campus University, vice-rector for internationalization of N.N. M. Kozybaeva Alessandro Figus and Italian language teacher at the Leonardo da Vinci Center Ludovico De Serio. The purpose of the visit was to expand international cooperation with Italian universities, as well as to consider the issue of joint participation in international programs, including the Erasmus + program.

On January 20, 2020, in order to achieve the most favorable conditions for the development of educational programs for double-degree education, an online conference was held at the university with representatives of the RIT University (USA) branch in Dubai and representatives of the University of Jordan, where issues of expanding cooperation were discussed.

Students, undergraduates and teaching staff of KarIU are prize-winners of international competitions, scientific and practical conferences, programs, etc.

- students A. Shirman and A. Bobylev are participants in the III Summit of Student Leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which was held in Gorno-Altaisk, Russian Federation;

- 1st year undergraduate student Amenov Zh. became the owner of the Abay-Vern intergovernmental scholarship program, in the 2019-2020 academic year he will study at the MINES Saint-Etienne University;

- doctoral students Dairbekova G. and Zhaslan R. took part in the IV Asian Student Forum "Tajikistan-Asia - 2019", held under the auspices of the Association of Asian Universities on the basis of the Tajik National University in Dushanbe;

- teacher Panin E. won first place at the XXII International Scientific and Technical Conference KONTECH “Advanced Forming Technologies and Nanostructured Materials;

- teacher Moon I. is a holder of the KOFST scholarship organized by the Korean Science and Technology Society of the Republic of Korea;

- teacher M. Beisenbina won the TechWomen Award, organized by the US Department of State;

- Lecturer Moon I. is a member of the ITEC Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Program, funded by the Government of India;

- Lecturer M. Beisenbina is a participant of the ITEC program "Indian Program of Technical and Economic Cooperation", funded by the Government of India.

In the 2019-2020 academic year, KarIU carried out work with foreign universities in Italy, Finland, Jordan, Russia, India, Poland on joint participation in the Erasmus + program: “Key Action 1 International credit mobility and“ Key Action 2 “Cooperation for innovation and exchange experience "in the component: Capacity building in higher education (VET)". In total, 5 projects were submitted from the following structural divisions: VHI, DNI, DVR, departments: KRIYA, EAVT, KhTiE.

With the aim of establishing partnerships between faculty and leaders and promoting ongoing US-Kazakhstan cooperation in higher education and science, an application is being developed with the University of Hawaii for the United States-Kazakhstan Universities Partnership Coaching Program (UniCEN). (LCA, DAYS, KRIA)

In order to improve the quality of education, KarIU implements internal and external academic mobility. In the 2019-2020 academic year. within the framework of external academic mobility, 5 students (departments TM&T, MI&M, S, OMD) were trained during one academic period at the Lublin Technical University (Poland).

Within the framework of the memorandum with the strategic partner ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC, students of the Institute of Information Technologies LNMIIT (Jaipur, India) annually study at KarIU as part of the summer semester in the discipline "Fundamentals of Metallurgy".
