Science activity
The Department of Chemical Technology and Ecology is actively conducting research work focused primarily on solving urgent problems in the field of creating new materials and technologies to improve the efficiency and environmental sustainability of industrial production. The active participation of students (bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral studies) in the performance of these research works ensures their high qualification, demand and career growth. As a result of scientific research with the participation of students, undergraduates and doctoral students, the department regularly publishes papers at international conferences, in domestic and foreign scientific journals.
The Department has international cooperation with the Novosibirsk Institute of Organic Chemistry named after N.N. Vorozhtsov, South Ural State University (Chelyabinsk), Irkutsk Chemical Institute named after A.E. Favorsky, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Tomsk State Polytechnic University, Tomsk State University (Tomsk), AltSTU. Polzunov, as well as with Republican and regional research institutes and Universities (with Karaganda Technical University, Karaganda University named after E.A. Buketov, Institute of Organic Chemistry and Coal Chemistry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Chemical and Metallurgical Institute named after Zh. Abishev. Ekibastuz Engineering Institute named after To Satpayev, Pavlodar University, etc.).
Currently, research work is being carried out in the following areas:
• Research related to the development of programs for environmental quality targets.
• Determination of the impact of environmental factors on public health.
• Development of regulatory documents in the field of environmental protection
• Development of technology for processing man-made waste
• Creation of anticorrosive polymer-containing coatings
• Technology of synthesis of unsaturated acetylene alcohols and their derivatives, including biologically active
• Development of new flotation agents for copper ores
• Technology for obtaining fertilizers based on man-made waste
• Synthesis of new multifunctional IUDs (thermal insulation materials, asphalt concrete)
• Technology for the production of modified coke-chemical resins
• Obtaining feed additives
Improving the process of mineral processing is one of the priorities of the regional development of the extractive industry. Of all the methods of mineral enrichment, the flotation method is considered the most effective, in the process of which flotation reagents play an important role. Within the framework of the trilateral cooperation agreement with the enterprises of Temirtau LLP “ПромСпецСнаб.KZ ” and EnergoInformProekt LLP, the Department of CTE is actively working on the creation of new flotation reagents based on high-molecular compounds. In the future, it is planned to conduct their tests in the process of mineral enrichment at the processing plants of the Karaganda region.
Also, in accordance with the scientific directions of the department, a special place is occupied by a cycle of works on the synthesis of new organic compounds and the study of their biological activity, which can serve as starting substances in the manufacture of medicines. In order to expand the possibilities of further research on the development of technologies for the production of medicinal substances, a trilateral memorandum of cooperation was signed in 2022 with the International Scientific and Production Holding “Phytochemistry” (Karaganda) and the Karaganda Pharmaceutical Plant.
In December 2021, within the framework of the program of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, at the invitation of foreign scientists for lectures, the Department of Chemical Technology and Ecology was visited by Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Chemical Technology of the Altai State Technical University named after I.I. Polzunov Konshin V.V. During his stay, he gave a course of lectures to students, undergraduates Department of “Chemical technology and Ecology”. Following the results of the round table cycle, an agreement was reached with the faculty of the department on joint research cooperation. Within the framework of this cooperation, a scientific article was prepared, which was accepted for publishing in the scientific journal “Eurasian Chemical Technology Journal”, which is part of the Scopus database, and an application was submitted for participation in the competition of scientific projects of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
