About the Department
The chair “History of Kazakhstan and social and humanitarian disciplines and physical education” was formed on the basis of the decision of the Academic Council of KIU in June 30, 2017. In the structure of the department there are two sections:
• “Social and Humanitarian Sciences”;
• “Physical education”.
Earlier sections were separate departments and represented structural divisions of the university with its history, traditions and directions of educational, methodical and scientific activity.
Section “Social and Humanitarian Sciences” during its existence has been repeatedly reorganized.
November 1, 1963, simultaneously with the formation of the plant-HTEI at KMP, here was created the chair “Social Sciences”, which was headed by associate professor, candidate of historical sciences Zaitsev Vasiliy.
In December 1964, the Department of “Social Sciences” was renamed the Department of “Marxism-Leninism”. In 1968, two new structures were created on its base: the Department of History of the CPSS and Scientific Communism and the Department of Philosophy and Political Economy.
In 1970, young specialists came to the chair of the history of the CPSS and scientific communism after graduating from the Faculty of History of the Kazakh State University – Jagparov N, Gunashev A, Saponova L. Soon they were sent to study at the postgraduate courses of the leading universities of the USSR – Moscow State University, Leningrad State University, KazSU. After graduating from graduate studies and defending dissertations, they returned to the institute. Later, the chair “History of the CPSS and Scientific Communism” was led by young candidates of science Jagparov N (1975-1981) and Gunashov A (1982-1989).
The Department of Philosophy and Political Economy in 1973-1976 was led by Siyanina Maya, and since 1976 – Popandopulo Ivan.
In 1990, on the initiative of Mukhina Zinara, another humanitarian department was established at the institute “Moral, Aesthetic and Legal Education”, renamed in 1992 to the Department of “Culturology”. In 1992-1994 she was headed by Valentina Shitova, and since 1994 – Oksana Gumenchuk.
In November 1996, as a result of the next general institutional restructuring, all the humanities departments were merged into one department “Philosophy and Social and Humanities” (Head of the Department, Gumenchuk O.).
During the 50-year period of the department’s functioning about twenty people defended the thesis for the degree of candidate of science. The department has become a school of attaining professional maturity for many well-known people in the republic and abroad. Among them is the scholar, the author of textbooks on the history of Kazakhstan Abdakimov Abdizhapar, awarded with the medal “For Labor Distinction” Shitova Valentina, Doctor of Cultural Studies Petukhov Valery, wonderful teachers, scientists Popandopulo Ivan, Mukhina Zinara, Saponova Lyudmila, Svetlovsky Alexey, Gulzayra Kemelbaeva. Candidates of philosophical sciences Nigmetzhanov Kuanyshgali, Povalyashko Galina, candidate of historical sciences Sherpalev Leonid , senior lecturers Ivanova Nina, Sobolevskaya Olga, Shinkarenko Galina, Meshalkina Olga, Zikirina Gulnara, Grachev Gennady, etc. Many of them currently live and work in other cities of the republic, near and far abroad. The present staff of the department maintains friendly and creative relations with them.
Section “Physical Education”. As an independent department was established in the factory-technical school at the KMP in 1967. The first head of the department was Teryaki Yury. From 1976 to 1984, the department was headed by Viktor Pak, from 1984 to 2000 – Tokarev Vladimir. Since 2000, the department was in charge of a graduate of the Kazakh Institute of Physical Culture, candidate for master of sports in artistic gymnastics Bobrovskaya Tatiana.
At different times, the department was honored coach of Kazakhstan in judo and sambo, master of sports of the USSR Filatov Sergey, Honored Master of Sports, twenty-times world powerlifting champion Alexey Sivokon, master of sports of international class in rowing Irina Dmitrieva.
A great contribution to the development and establishment of the department was made by such teachers as Maximenko Maxim, Olga Voloshina, coach of Vladimir Voloshin, Vladimir Baryshnikov, Svetlana Demkina, Anatoly Badlo and Lyudmila Karachanskaya, coach of the HTEI basketball team, Abdishev Kair, Natalia Grigoryevna, Dnekeshev Sagidulla, Lukashov Sergey, Lukashova Tatyana, Penchukov Petr, Zhunisbekov Zamambek, Dorofeeva Viktoria, leskun Elena and many others.
