On December 3, 2020, an online meeting of graduate students of the Karaganda Industrial University with a representative of the international group Eurasian Resources Group (ERG) took place on the internship and employment in the campaign.

ERG is one of the world’s leading mining and mineral resource groups with integrated mining, processing, energy and logistics businesses such as:

• TNK Kazchrome;
• Sokolovsko-Sarbayskoe mining and processing production association (SSGPO);
• JSC Aluminum of Kazakhstan;
• Kazakhstan Electrolysis Plant;
• ERG Service;
• Pavlodar Machine-Building Plant;
• Euro-Asian Energy Corporation (EEC);
• ENRC Logistics;
• Shubarkol Komir JSC.

Our graduates had a unique opportunity to ask questions of interest to them, which related to the possibility of employment and career growth in the company, social support for young professionals, salaries, etc.

At the moment, our university is preparing a memorandum of mutual cooperation in training specialists for the Eurasian Group. The memorandum provides for the development of educational programs, including scholarships, the organization of all types of internships, internships for teachers, and joint events (conferences, job fairs, seminars, etc.).

Today, December 3, 2020, the Olympiad «CISCO STARS KARAGANDA – 2020» on information technologies among students, College teachers and computer science teachers of schools of the Karaganda region ended. The Olympiad is held annually on the basis of the Karaganda industrial University together with the Kazakh Academy of Infocommunications, the Department of education of the Karaganda region and The faculty of information technologies of the L. N. Gumilyov ENU.

The purpose of the Olympiad is to create conditions for supporting gifted students, to spread and popularize scientific and practical knowledge in the field of network technologies among young people, and to generate interest in research and practical activities. In addition, by participating in the Olympiad, students develop a creative approach to solving problems related to building and configuring a network.

The « CISCO STARS KARAGANDA – 2020 Olympiad was held in two stages. 298 students, schoolchildren and teachers registered for the Olympiad. The first round of the Olympiad was held remotely on the Cisco Network Academy platform netacad.com in the form of online testing that determines the level of knowledge of network technologies.

104 participants, including teachers and students of universities and colleges (Karaganda industrial University, Karaganda technical University, CHU) took part in the first round of the «CISCO STARS – 2020» Olympiad» Karaganda Commercial College», College of Economics, business and law of Karaganda economic University of Kazpotrebsoyuz, Zhezkazgan humanitarian College, College of Economics, business and law, CHU «Technological College of Kazakhmys Corporation» , College of Innovative technologies, Karaganda banking College named after Zh. K. Bukenov, Karaganda industrial University-College of technology, Karaganda engineering College, Karaganda professional and technical College, Karaganda higher Polytechnic College), as well as teachers of computer science in schools of the Karaganda region.

According to the results of the first round, 20 participants advanced to the second round.

On December 2-3 of this year, the management of Karaganda industrial University held an online meeting with students on the issues of holding the winter examination session.

During the meetings, the rector of The University Zhautikov Bakhyt Akhatovich spoke in detail about the format of passing exams in the form of proctoring, which allows you to ensure the correctness of assessment in online mode.

Proctoring is a high-tech procedure, not just a video recording from the screen and desktop. It is based on a smart algorithm that pays attention to changes in student behavior that the teacher may not attach importance to. Therefore, monitoring an online exam using proctoring is better and more effective than monitoring a regular exam in a University classroom.

The proctoring system is used by most of the leading universities in Kazakhstan. Today it is one of the most reliable systems.

More than 100 University students took part in the meetings. With the forced transition to distance learning, our students have a number of pressing questions about the organization and conduct of the examination session. A large number of technical questions were asked, questions about the conduct of exams for nonresident students, the ability to access the Internet and its speed, which can affect the successful passing of exams. The University management assured all students that all technical problems and nuances will be carefully studied and, if necessary, all students will be given the opportunity to take an additional exam or retake it in a timely manner. After all, distance education received by our students today meets all modern trends in the development of our society.
