Within the framework of the week of reading literacy, a number of events were held in the fuel and energy complex at KarIU.  On February 23, students took an active part in the essay competition on the topic: “Do you agree with D. Diderot’s statement“ People stop thinking when they stop reading? ”.  In their essays, the guys frankly expressed their thoughts and took pride of place in the competition.  This is Slesarenko Evgeniy, a student of the T-20 TEK group at KarIU, who took 3rd place, Onufreeva Daria, a student of the E-20 TEK group at KarIU, who took 3rd place in the competition.  Particularly noted was the work of Opar Ivan – a student of the E-20 TEK group at KarIU, who in verse form (32 lines) revealed the topic and expressed his attitude to this statement.  Opar Ivan took the first place in the essay competition “People stop thinking when they stop reading”.

Population degradation trend
As clear as day.
Limitations of rational thinking
The generation has cast a shadow.

The age of easy access to information has come
An age of uselessness in search of her.
Century of mass consumption
It led to negative consequences.

These consequences are unnatural.

When they stop reading. ”
And since the meaning of this phrase was clear,
