In order to fulfil the message of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. A. Nazarbayev, to introduce elements of the Fourth industrial revolution and digitalization of the economy, Karaganda state industrial university of Temirtau in cooperation with the Cisco Network Academy in 2018 has become a base platform for the introduction of new digital technologies and training in the Karaganda region of new personnel with digital skills, which was awarded the status of the Cisco Academy.

Within the framework of cooperation, the international Olympiad “Cisco STARS – 2019”, held under the auspices of the CISCO network Academy and the Kazakh Academy of Info communications, started on the platform of the Karaganda state industrial university on October 28, 2019.

The American multinational Corporation Cisco is a world leader in network technology and initiator of a program to develop and create easy-to-use and cost-effective computer networks, available to educational institutions and students around the world. It was founded 20 years ago on the basis of 64 educational institutions in the United States, and has now spread to more than 165 countries.

Cisco academic programs are one of the most deeply developed educational training programs offered by companies that work in the IT industry, they significantly facilitate their students to acquire knowledge and skills to work in the field of computer networks in the broadest sense and provide ample opportunities for career growth in leading companies in our country and the world.

Traditionally, the competition consisted of two stages: correspondence (online) – from November 7 to November 9, and full-time (final) – November 29, 2019 (on the platform of the Karaganda state industrial University).

690 participants were registered to participate in the Olympiad. The first round was successfully passed by 51 participants, of which 21 participants from Turkestan, Karaganda, Akmola and Almaty regions confirmed their intention to participate in the second – final round of the Olympiad.

Galina Sivyakova, Vice-rector for academic Affairs of Karaganda state industrial university, made a welcoming speech to the participants of the Olympiad, wishing all the finalists to show their abilities as much as possible and not stop at the results achieved.

Cisco Networking Academy instructor Nurzhaubaev Akniet Alibekovich opened the Olympiad.

The winners of the “Cisco STARS-2019” Olympiad were determined by a jury consisting of experts from JSC “NIT”, CISCO, JSC “TransTeleCom”, JSC

” Kazakhtelecom”, GU ” Department of education of the Karaganda region” and representatives of universities who applied for participation in the Olympiad.

Awarding of participants of the contest “STARS Cisco – 2019” was held within the framework of summing up the work of the Republican scientific-methodical conference: “Transformation education: the contents, technologies, quality” Karaganda state industrial University, dedicated to the Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

According to the results of the Olympiad, the first place was awarded to Berik Abdrakhmanov, the second place was shared by Mukanov Merey and Tleugaliev Erlan, the third place – Zhaparov Baglan, Eronin Andrey and KOZHAEVA Dinara.

The winners were awarded vouchers for exams (CCNA R&S, CCNA Security, CCNP) and certificates for training at the CISCO Academy.
