On August 16, the annual Republican August conference of education workers with the participation of the Head of state Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev was held in the Palace of Independence of the capital. The theme of the year – “Celeshake – Kemel blimmen!”.

The traditional August conference was held on the eve of the new 2019-2020 academic year. Among those gathered at the Palace of Independence were teachers from all regions of the country, teachers of colleges and Universities, parents, scientists and public figures. Issues of change management in education and science were discussed, innovative ideas and initiatives were also presented. During the conference, a thematic platform on topical issues and news in the field of education and science was organized, as well as an award ceremony for teachers.

In his speech Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev noted the role of teachers in the education of the new generation.

– The task of teachers and, of course, parents is to educate worthy citizens of our country. A decent citizen is a person who has the amount of necessary knowledge that will be used for the benefit of our Fatherland. “Our children should be well aware that without hard work they will be uncompetitive in the most difficult conditions of the coming era,” the President said.

According to the Head of state, it is necessary to give a new powerful impetus to the development of education and science.

– It is necessary to take comprehensive measures to improve the quality of education. These are, first of all, questions of competence of teachers, quality of textbooks, modern infrastructure and material resources. It is necessary to work effectively in these areas, quickly identify problems and offer the best ways to solve them, – said Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev.

Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev instructed the Ministry of education and science to review the implementation of trilingual education. This issue requires a thorough study, taking into account the readiness of teachers and curricula.

The main event in the new academic year is the adoption of The law “on the status of the teacher” and the approval of the new state program for the development of education and science until 2025.

The direction of development of education and science for the next five years is to ensure the qualitative continuation of large-scale work on updating the content of the level of education within the framework of the current state program, increasing the potential of teachers, infrastructure development, digitalization of education, attracting the private sector, increasing the role of business in science.
