KARAGANDA STATE INDUSTRIAL UNIVERSITY TOOK PART IN THE REGIONAL SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL CONFERENCE “THE ORIGINS OF LARGE METAL”

On October 27, 2017, students and faculty of the KSIU took an active part in the regional scientific and practical conference “The Origins of Large Metal”, within the framework of the state program “Ruhani zhazyru”, organized by the Temirtau City Museum of History and Local Lore.

This is a meeting with the participants of the expedition to the Atasu settlement of the Bronze Age. 30 years ago, the expedition found archaeological finds confirming that the metallurgical industry was actively developing here. Temirtau, this is the city where the city-forming enterprise is a metallurgical plant. And Atasu was the largest settlement of ancient miners and metallurgists of the Bronze Age. Here are found melting furnaces for bronze heat treatment. People who lived in the late III and early II millennium BC knew how to handle different types of metals. Therefore, it is from here that the sources of metallurgy of Kazakhstan come.

Members of the archaeological expedition to the Kent Mountains to the Alat Settlement of the Late Bronze Age took part in the conference. The leading professors of the Department “Processing of Metal Pressure” of the KSU and the Department of “Archeology, Ethnology and Patriotic History”.

Presentations were made by:

Amanzholov Zhuman Kalykovich – Cand.Tech.Sci., The senior lecturer of the department “Processing of metal by pressure” KarGiU.

Jumabaev Sagyndyk Ubaevich – Candidate of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Department of “Archeology, Ethnology and Patriotic History”, participant of the expedition.

Bokezhanov Gaziz Imam-Medinovich – electrical engineer, participant of the expedition.

Evdokimov Valery Valentinovich – Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Department of “Archeology, Ethnology and Patriotic History”, KarSU.

Shakatayev Olzhas Sayatovich – Senior Lecturer of the Department of “Archeology, Ethnology and Patriotic History”, KarSU, Master of Archeology.

For several years they have been studying the history of copper smelting in the territory of Central Kazakhstan, they are reconstructing ancient melting furnaces with a trial run. The guests shared with the participants of the conference the results of excavation and research work.

Employees of the museum, studying the materials of archaeological research, presented a model of the reconstructed furnace of the Early Iron Age, which was demonstrated during the conference.
