Material and technical base
Karaganda Industrial University has a modern material and technical base, which is annually renewed and replenished with modern educational and scientific equipment, computers, furniture and other fixed assets.
The Department of MiM has sufficient personnel, educational and methodological (intellectual), material and technical and information resources to implement the quality assurance policy of the EP “Metallurgy”, “Materials Science and Technology of New Materials” and “Mechanical Engineering” (Direction of training: Machines and technology of foundry production) …
The availability and effectiveness of the use of the necessary research infrastructure in the preparation of students is confirmed by a sufficient classroom fund, equipped with modern tools, instruments, equipment and technical teaching aids.
The material and technical base of the department (classroom fund, laboratories, instrumentation, stock materials) ensures the effective implementation of research and experimental research work of students. To improve the quality and efficiency of scientific research, the department has an engineering laboratory “Electron microscopy and nanotechnology” (LIP “EMiN”). LIP “EMiN” carries out scientific and economic activities in the interests of NJSC “KarIU”.
The department has a qualified teaching staff, which makes it possible to train competent specialists for the metallurgical industry. The material base of the department is also steadily developing. In November 2018, a new 250 kVA high-temperature ore-thermal furnace was launched (the only laboratory semi-industrial furnace in Kazakhstan with such a high capacity).

For the implementation of the educational process and professional training of students at the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Science there are 7 subject audiences; 2 laboratories, an engineering laboratory “Electron microscopy and nanotechnology”, as well as “Laboratory building” B “.
Laboratory building “B”
In the laboratories of the department operating stands are installed: crushing and screening equipment (jaw, cone, roll and hammer crushers, vibrating screen); metallurgical equipment (converter, rolling stand); hydraulic drive; metal-cutting machines, etc.
Laboratory building “B”
The department is constantly working to improve the existing stands and equip the laboratory with new ones. In the development and creation of existing stands, teaching staff and educational support personnel of the department and graduate students are actively involved in accordance with the assignment for diploma design.
The equipment of the educational and experimental technical base of the department allows conducting laboratory classes in accordance with the curricula of the educational programs “Metallurgy”, “Materials science and technology of new materials” and “Mechanical engineering” (Direction of training: Machines and technology of foundry production).
