On April 21-22, 2022, the Karaganda Industrial University hosted the Republican hackathon for students of universities of Kazakhstan “TemirTau SmartTech Hackathon”, organized by the Department of Artificial Intelligence Technologies.
At the opening of the Hackathon, Deputy Akim of Temirtau Vladislav Moiseevich Tsai and member of the Board — Vice-Rector for Research and International Relations of Karaganda Industrial University Saparkhodjaev Nurbek Pazharbekovich addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. The event was also attended by representatives of the organizers and sponsors of the Hackathon: the Department of Informatization, Public Services and Archives of the Karaganda region, JSC ArcelorMittal Temirtau and JSC Halyk Bank.
The SmartTech hackathon in TemirTau is an educational, project and communication forum for students of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan aimed at solving urgent problems in the field of information technology.
The purpose of the hackathon “TemirTau SmartTech Hackathon” is to identify and professionally develop teams that have developed the most promising design solutions to the tasks.
The organizers and sponsors of the Hackathon were:
• Akimat of Temirtau;
• Department of Informatization, Provision of Public Services and Archives of the Karaganda region;
• JSC “ArcelorMittal Temirtau”;
• Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan JSC.
The main organizer of the Hackathon was Karaganda Industrial University. The Republican hackathon “TemirTau SmartTech Hackathon” was attended by 12 teams from among the students of Karaganda Technical University named after A. Saginov, Atyrau University named after H. Dosmukhamedov, Karaganda University named after E. Buketov, Karaganda Economic University of Kazpotrebsoyuz, Karaganda Medical University, Narkhoz University and Karaganda Industrial University.
The Organizing Committee of the Hackathon set three tasks for the participating teams in the field of information technology. According to the rules of the Hackathon, its participants had to develop design solutions to the tasks set using any programming languages. After completing the tasks, the participating teams presented their design solutions to the jury members.
The jury evaluated design solutions on a 10-point scale based on a combination of the following criteria:
1) compliance of the project idea with the task set by the representatives of the organizing committee;
2) originality and innovation of the design solution;
3) thoroughness of the technical solution;
4) economic efficiency of the proposed design solution;
5) quality of preparation of presentation materials and speeches;
6) the potential of a design solution.
After the demonstration of design solutions and the meeting of the jury members, the results of the Hackathon were summed up. The first place was taken by the team of A. Saginov Karaganda Technical University (Karaganda): Eva Mammadova, Karina Dzhumabayeva and Veronika Bogomolova (head – Dinara Zhenisbekovna Kaibasova).
The second place was taken by the team of Karaganda Industrial University (Temirtau): Mergen Zhumageldiev, Nikolay Sumenko, Grigory Krivoruchko and Vladislav Komarov (head – Svetlana Vasilyevna Kan).
The third place was shared by two teams representing Narkhoz University (Almaty) and Atyrau University named after H. Dosmukhamedov. The team of Narkhoz University was represented by students Zhuman Azel, Nadyrkhanova Nadira, Serikkan Ayan and Tursynkul Bakdaulet (head – Tleuberdieva Gulnara Isabekovna), and the team of Atyrau University named after H. Dosmukhamedov was represented by students Gaparov Dauren, Zhakia Akadil, Saifonov Amirzhan (head – Gabdulova Aigul Ermekovna).
Representatives of the Organizing Committee awarded the winners of the Hackathon with valuable prizes provided by sponsors: Akimat of Temirtau, JSC “ArcelorMittal Temirtau”, JSC “People’s Bank of Kazakhstan”.
The teams of Narkhoz University (Almaty) and Atyrau University named after H. Dosmukhamedov (Atyrau), who took the third place, were awarded with external SSD drives.
Representatives of the Karaganda Industrial University team, who took second place, received certificates for the purchase of equipment in the Sulpak store for a total amount of 200,000 tenge (50,000 tenge for each participant).
Students of the team of A. Saginov Karaganda Technical University received the main prize – a laptop. All participants were also awarded certificates of participation in the Hackathon.
